Charges laid by RCMP Child Exploitation Unit



PORT HAWKESBURY – The RCMP Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) has arrested and charged a Port Hawkesbury man following an online child exploitation investigation.

On Thursday, August 18, 28-year-old Malcolm Smith was arrested and has been charged with Making Arrangements to Commit a Sexual Offence Against a Child. Smith was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court on November 28, 2016.

The RCMP encourages all members of our communities to be a voice for those children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada’s National tip line for reporting the online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
