Residents of Guysborough County are being invited to provide their input on how police resources are allocated this year in Guysborough County.
Guysborough District RCMP are holding a series of town hall meetings around the county, the week of April 11th. This will be an opportunity for residents to talk with police on issues they feel are important for the RCMP to address. Local RCMP officers will be present to discuss initiatives and to hear from residents on how they feel the RCMP is performing in our communities and what they would like to see addressed.
These meetings will help the RCMP create its Annual Performance Plan (APP), which sets out the strategic goals of the District. Information discussed at the meeting will be collected and considered in the upcoming 2016-2017 APP. This plan sets out local policing priorities and where resources will be allocated throughout the year.
It is hoped that a diverse crowd will be in attendance to make suggestions and speak to community issues that the police might be unaware of. This meeting however, will not be a venue to file complaints. Those issues should be addressed by contacting your local RCMP office.
The meetings are being held at the following locations and times:
April 11th, 7:00 PM at Guysborough Academy (African Heritage Centre)
April 12th, 7:00 PM at the Canso/Hazel Hill Fire Department
April 14th, 7:00 PM at St. Marys Academy
Any inquiries on these meetings can be directed to Sgt. Addie Maccallum at (902) 533-3801.
