GUYSBOROUGH – At the July 12 regular monthly meeting of council, MODG approved two progress payments for Marco Construction, the lead contractor for building the Chedabucto Lifestyle Complex. The interim payments amounted to $1,050,000.
Warden Vernon Pitts told The Journal that council is pleased with progress at the site so far. “It’s on budget and on schedule.”
He said local sub-tractors at the site, including Con and Con Construction, are being kept busy. “It shows that we have the talent here,” Pitts said.
Council also approved the purchase of an ice resurfacer for the facility from successful bidder Saunders Equipment. At $93,350, that purchase came in under budget.
Two zoning changes were approved at the meeting. Chedabucto Investments will have a property in Guysborough rezoned from residential to commercial, and a property in Melford will be changed from mixed rural residential to light industrial.
