GUYSBOROUGH – Local artists and photographers will have a new place to showcase and sell their works in early July, with the opening of an art and photography gallery at 102 Main St. in Guysborough. The Loft Gallery will be located upstairs from Rose’s Garden of Gifts in the historic old bank building.
“When we bought this building last year, we knew we wanted to make the most of the central location in Guysborough, in a way that would benefit the community,” said owner and Guysborough Journal publisher Allan Murphy. “We soon realized a gallery was a perfect fit. It will give our very talented local artists and photographers a place to display their work and provide visitors to the area something else to do during their time in our community.”
Artists to show paintings at The Loft Gallery include painters Moni Duersh, Wayne Avery and Lee Leonard. Participating photographers include Rob Carter, Fallon Conway and John Bastin.
The Loft Gallery has partnered with Antigonish’s Down to Earth Framing for high-quality framing services.
The gallery is an expansion of the Guysborough Journal’s local business. Earlier this year the company launched a full-service communications agency, called Broadhorns Communications. Broadhorns provides a range of professional services in the Strait Area and beyond, including communications project management, writing and design, photography and video work, as well as social media management.
