Still Standing’s Canso show to air Nov. 27

CANSO – The rich history, community life and spirit in Canso will be showcased across Canada with CBC’s Still Standing episode of Nov. 27.

Canso came to the attention of the show last fall when news that the community was being considered for a possible rocket launch facility went national. The program typically looks for towns that are struggling in some capacity, such as a loss of industry or a loss of culture. Maritime Launch Services plans to establish Canada’s first commercial satellite launch site at Canso.

Still Standing filmed in the community in October 2017.

The award-winning series follows Canadian comedian Jonny Harris (Murdoch Mysteries) as he sets off across the country to discover the hidden comedy in Canada's far-flung small towns. Each week, Harris takes a hilarious and heart-warming journey to find humour in the unlikeliest of places -- small towns on the ropes. After immersing himself in the lives of local characters and unearthing the tall tales in these tiny towns, Harris delivers a rousing original stand-up comedy routine -- a toast, not a roast -- for the whole community.

Still Standing airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBC, the CBC TV streaming app and cbc.ca/watch.
