Parks Canada seeks input on planning for Canso Islands

By Helen Murphy

CANSO – Parks Canada is planning ahead for the future of Canso Islands National Historic Site and invites input from the community.

A new management statement will outline Parks Canada’s management approach, intent and objectives for the site over the next 10 years. The department recently contacted partners and stakeholders to invite comments, suggestions and feedback to help shape this plan for the future.

"It's about sharing ideas, sharing thoughts," Parks Canada's site and visitor experience manager Madeline Harvey told the Journal in a recent interview.

Stakeholders and partners are asked for feedback on opportunities for collaboration, enhancing the visitor experience, potential for future events and telling the story of the site.

Submissions are requested by August 30, 2019. More information can be found on the Canso Islands section of the Parks Canada website.
