A dangerous section of the TCH between Antigonish and New Glasgow pegged for twinning saw another fatal accident on Saturday evening, Oct. 12.
Pictou County District RCMP is investigating the two-vehicle collision that occurred on Hwy 104 in Barneys River Station.
At 7:35 p.m., RCMP responded to a 911 call of a collision in Barneys River Station. The preliminary investigation indicates a westbound transport truck veered into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Pontiac G6. The occupants of the car, a 51-year-old female and a 74-year-old female, both from Antigonish, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and Hwy. 104 remained closed Sunday morning. Traffic was diverted to Hwy 4 westbound at Exit 29 and eastbound at exit 26.
